Holy Cross will begin offering Sunday morning worship services in our outdoor chapel on August 2 at 9:00 a.m. In August, we will offer virtual worship via Facebook Live and Zoom at 8:00 a.m.
We understand that our parishioners are individuals and, for some, being together to worship on Holy Cross property makes their spiritual journey fuller, while others have personal considerations that make virtual worship the right choice. We want to provide choices that honor those differences.
In order to ensure a safe and meaningful service, we are putting some guidelines in place for our outdoor services based on dioceses, federal, state and county directions and guidance. If you are not comfortable with the plan for in-person worship, we understand and encourage you to continue with virtual worship—both are fully worship.
In order to prepare for all of our worshipers, we ask that you RSVP for any service you will attend.
All worshipers are required to wear masks while attending the service. Masks are sometimes uncomfortable, but they are essential to reducing the risk of transmission.
Seating will be arranged so that families keep a safe distance apart. There will be some seating on the benches in the outdoor chapel and parishioners are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets so they may use the lawn area when the benches are full.
Ushers will direct worshipers to seats in a way that will minimize getting close to others, and parishioners will be asked to remain in their seats throughout the service unless there is an emergency.
We will not have the traditional exchange of peace or passing of a collection plate. You will be able to place your offering in a basket before or after the service.
Bulletins are available online in advance, and parishioners are invited to bring iPads or phones to view their bulletins or print them out at home and bring them. There will be some printed bulletins available upon request.
The restrooms will be available for “emergencies,” but we ask that you use the facilities before coming to church.
If you are not feeling well, please stay home.
Even at 9:00 in the morning, we can have very warm days in the summer. If you are sensitive to heat, please check the temperature and decide whether you will be comfortable sitting outside.
We will not hold services if the outdoor chapel and surrounding ground is wet. If we get rain the night before a service, or if there is a chance of rain on the day of a service, please check the website to see if the service has been canceled before coming to church.
