Comfort Cases’ mission is to serve the 437,500 children in foster care in the United States. Most of them are removed from their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs. Comfort Cases believes that every child deserves to feel a sense of dignity. Every child deserves to pack their belongings in a special bag that they can call their very own. Every child deserves to have a cozy new pair of pajamas, a brand new warm blanket, and a new stuffed animal to hug during the traumatic transition into foster care.
Holy Cross has partnered with Comfort Cases since our first party June of 2018. We reached out to Comfort Cases because of an overwhelming desire to do more for our community. The founder, Rob Scheer has spoken at Holy Cross several times over the years to highlight the need for dignity for foster kids.
Comfort Cases has struggled significantly during the pandemic with donations, both monetary and supplies. Everyone is struggling. They anticipate a huge influx in abuse and neglect cases when the schools, churches, and aftercare programs reopen. Those programs are the main source of referrals for child protective services.
Right now Comfort Cases needs backpacks and teen pajamas. (Teens = adult sizes S-XXL)
