2019 Wednesday Evening Bible Study

Holy Cross will be offering a new Wednesday evening Bible Study program beginning in mid-January. The Transforming Literature of the Bible, a year-long curriculum, was developed by the Rev. William Barnwell and guides participants through a deep exploration of the meaning of the great literature of the Bible. Participants will listen to God speak through the stories that have shaped our culture and church.

The Rev. Barnwell will be visiting on Saturday, January 12 to kick off the program with the first two of nine sessions on The Great Stories of Genesis. The sessions continue on Wednesday evenings through February. The course book, which covers the first series, is $35. (See the Rev. Denise if financial assistance is needed.) The program continues in the spring and will pick up again in the fall with the New Testament. Sign up for the first series in the Upper Room or by emailing Please let us know before Christmas if you plan to participate, so that we can be sure to have enough course books for everyone.

Holy Cross Women's Tea

Sunday, December 16
The women of Holy Cross are invited to a Christmas Tea on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. We’ll enjoy a variety of teas and treats and share the holiday spirit. Please bring your own tea cup and a friend! If you would like to provide tea sandwiches or other treats, please contact Maude Hales. We will also be collecting Christmas cookies for Second Story, so if you would to donate, please bring them packaged for delivery.

Parish Lunch Line

On the third Sunday of every month, we gather in the parish kitchen to make sandwiches for clients of Northern Virginia Family Service's Bailey's Crossroads shelter. Join us Sunday, December 16 at 11:30 a.m. We work for about 45 minutes to assemble and package sandwiches with the supplies we have on hand. All are welcome to come help out for as much time as you can spare. We are always accepting donations of lunch meat, cheese, and bread.
